Misty adopted us. She was a skinny, hungry angry cat the showed up on our porch one day. I told my wife "If we feed it, it won't go away." We fed it. It didn't go away. Everyone in our house is extremely allergic to cats so, she could not come in the house. That was fine until winter. When it got very cold, she would not go in the garage. She was very leery of anyone approaching her. We finally built a house for her with a warming pillow and a 100 watt light for heat. She lived with us for 7 years. Died in 2013. This painting is a tribute to her and to her very difficult life.
My name is Mike Daniels. I have been painting in oil since 2000. I love oil painting in the impressionist style. I enjoy landscapes and still life. I work with brush and palette knife on canvas and canvas board. Over the past several years I have seen a style develop that I like: thick paint with a lot of texture. I enjoy plein air as well as studio work. I was commissioned by the U.S. Post Office to create a unique work representing the postal service for Lafayette, NJ. This event instilled confidence and the desire to provide paintings to commemorate the feeling and inspirations of the past.
